Works Exactly as Advertised
I’ve had my caddy for three months. It has worked exactly as advertised. Pros: -Climbs hills like a boss – At least 36 hole battery capacity. More like 45ish – The ability to remotely control it is fabulous (walk on and drive it to the other side of green) – Crosses soaking ground without trouble (I’ve driven it through 3″ deep water with mud beneath) If I can walk through it, it will follow. Cons: (all of which are now quite rare because I have experience with the caddy and know when to expect trouble) – Will occasionnally tip over when going down steep slopes – In Follow mode, each time I initiate it, I need to walk slowly for the first second or so until it has stabilized a connection with the remote. I can’t just take off like I am used to. – In Follow mode, it will spin out on some pavement and definitely uneven cart path/soil boundaries and roots. I figured out these spots and have adjusted how I navigate them so it is quite rare now. – I have found zero use for marching mode – I found zero use for the belt accessory cable (comes disconnected far too easily and was a waste of $100) – Umbrella mount is useless. it is far to low to stand under and even with the extension that I manufactured, it is unwieldy and useless. I have a drizzle stick to cover the clubs and carry an umbrella. – Must charge the remote after every round. It does not hold it’s charge as well as the caddy battery. – Multiple stupid/distracting comments from others: “You have something following you.” “Your dog follows you well.” After 10 or so of these per round, it gets annoying. Sometimes people yell at me, from a distance, and as I go to see what emergency they have, they drop one of those lines on me. I’m like “Good lord why did you beckon me over thinking you were being clever?” I know that this may sound silly, but the caddy is so unique that everyone who sees it feels like they have to say something and it actually sometimes distracts my concentration. Notes: 1. I hate, Hate, HATE, HATE-HATE the belt accessory. It comes unplugged sooooooooo much. It is connected on the remote end with a usb mini-b and the other with a phono plug (3.5mm I think). This is a headphone plug attached to a little transmitter attached to my rear pocket or jacket bottom. Every few swings, it comes unplugged and the only way I know is after I have walked 50 yards, and someone says “Your clubs are back there”. No amount of re-routing the wires around my body fixes this (it needs to have a positive locking plug on both ends). SO VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!! I would put it up on EBAY, but I don’t want someone else frustrated by it. 2. The wheels are hard plastic and sharp (at first). After a few hundred yards (total) on pavement, they get worn down a bit. I try to avoid solid pavement as much as possible to extend the life of the wheels. I am pretty sure the wheels will last a number of years if I avoid as much pavement as possible. They get completely clogged with grass and it still climbs like it was born to.
